Type One is a one-woman composition house, specializing in serving the needs of scholarly publishers. As Type One’s owner and operator, my pride as a craftsman is my guarantee on every line of type. I’ve been in the composition industry since 1995, and over the years I’ve developed a special affinity for scholarly titles, as well as a great deal of respect for the integrity and exacting standards of academic publishers.
I am committed to providing the quality and experience one would expect from a large, long-established company and improving upon it with the personal service only available from an individual. It’s important to me to blend into your workflow as seamlessly as possible. I’ll gladly accommodate any special production procedures you require. Likewise, I will work with text or word processing files from any editing system you may use.
While typesetting is the core of my business, I hope to make the production process more convenient by offering a few related services. Type One is prepared to perform line art scanning, simple figure creation, edit insertion, and design modification. At the same time, I’m always happy to work with another vendor’s files, and will communicate directly with your other providers if you wish.
